The Bride of Shadow Canyon
is an action-packed adventure taking the reader on a glorious trail
ride where love triumphs over differences in age, experience and
temperament.
Jed Doulan rescues his friend's
sister-in-law from danger, expecting a proper boardinghouse widow
only to find she's a young and fancy showgirl. But Rachell's as
innocent as a newborn calf, though convincing Jed of the fact takes
quite a bit of doing.
At first, the irascible
gunslinger doesn't seem much of an improvement over the henchmen who
captured her at the behest of the obsessed saloon owner where Rachell
was last employed. Bound by a hasty marriage to appease a testy
judge, these two seem an unlikely couple. He's domineering and
demanding, she's a spitfire with a temper. Keeping that annulment
date seems a sure bet. But through the long trail ride back to
Rachell's sister's ranch, respect, admiration, and finally love
blossom between these two characters. But Jed is almost old enough
to be Rachell's father and he fights mightily against his growing
hunger for her.
Jed's crankiness took a while
to warm to, and he is almost too principled as he tries to keep an
increasingly amorous Rachell at arms length. But Rachell is as feisty
as Jed is cantankerous, and she's determined to get what she wants.
And she wants the gruff but honorable Jed. With sparks flying,
desire igniting, and danger a breath away, just how long can Jed
hold out?
Stacey Kayne has a wonderful
writing style, and in The Bride of Shadow Canyon she provides
two intriguing characters who will keep the reader's interest as
they take a sensual journey toward their mutual destiny. |
