Julie Lawson flees Philadelphia and heads west in hopes of protecting her pregnant sister.  Once at her uncle’s in Durango, she goes to work for him in the office at his smelter and tries to keep her reasons for being there a secret.  Her only concern is for her family.  Only she did not count on meeting Wes Westmoreland, a handsome stranger who has reasons of his own for being in Durango.

Undercover Wells Fargo agent, Wes Westmoreland, cannot afford the distraction that Julie provides as he works to discover what is going on at the local smelters.  A series of “accidents” have occurred and it is his job to determine if they are truly accidents or if something or someone sinister is at work.  Having been burned in a past job, he knows he has to resist the temptation of Julie despite his growing attraction for her.

But resistance isn’t easy and as Julie and Wes get to know each other, they grow closer though both have secrets that once revealed could ruin their budding relationship.

Colorado Silver, Colorado Gold provides readers with an interesting story featuring fascinating characters.  Wes and Julie make a lovely couple and I enjoyed watching them learn about each other.  All Julie knows is the love of family; something Wes, who grew up in a saloon, cannot relate to.  Wes struggles to learn to trust and love and I really felt for his character.  Julie is a very loyal heroine surrounded by mystery.  She is hiding something throughout the story, but we are kept in the dark until almost the very end.  This mystery definitely kept me interested and made me want to know more.

The subject matter regarding the smelter and the process of getting gold and silver from rocks was also interesting and I was glad that the author included it as it helped me to understand a bit better what was going on at the smelters.  I felt the author did a wonderful job blending this into the story so the information didn’t seem out of place.

Overall, I really enjoyed Colorado Silver, Colorado Gold and the relationship that exists between its main characters.  I became invested in their relationship and couldn’t wait to see what would happen next.
