The dime-store novel heroes
and Wells Fargo detectives, Rome and Boston Garrett, have fallen
from the public’s graces due to a well-publicized scandal involving
Rome and his appetite for the ladies. To resurrect Rome’s reputation
and support their brother Athens’ new role in a secret government
law enforcement organization, Rome and Boston agree to flush out
Rome’s nemesis and certifiable bad-guy, Bulls-eye Brady. Only
problem is, it will involve hooking up again with Rome’s one true
love, card-sharp Kat Simmons, who betrayed him with Brady.
Kat has made a lot of mistakes
in her young life, betraying Rome being one of her major regrets.
But both Rome and Kat bring a lot more baggage with them this time
around and picking up the pieces of their former relationship seems
more than either of them can handle. Still Bulls-eye is a cold,
wild-eyed killer who doesn’t forget anything, certainly not the
woman who walked out on him or the man who was her former lover. And
the Garrett brothers’ plan is counting on it because Bulls-eye’s
plundering and murdering of innocent folks has got to be stopped.
Hopefully, before he learns of the secret Kat’s been keeping from
him and Rome for the last six years.
Ms. Ciotta brings her
characters to life with perfect pitch dialog and emotional realism
while keeping the action fast-paced and the humor flowing. You’re
sure to enjoy all the Garrett brothers as they each make an
appearance here, including London who springs a few surprises of his
own in the romance department. A fun read.
