With rich
details and charming characters, The River Nymph is an
entertaining historical romance.
Lady gambler,
Delilah Raymond is only concerned with survival and making a life
for herself and her uncle when she wins a steamboat from Clint
Daniels in a poker game. However, her win and the events that
followed have threatened her plans to turn The River Nymph
into a freight hauler. In order to proceed with her plans, she must
turn to her rival for assistance…Clint.
A man haunted
by his past, Clint Daniels is fascinated by the beautiful gambler
who won not only his boat, but also the clothes off his back during
a poker game. When she reluctantly turns to him for help, he agrees
knowing the journey upriver may stir up memories from his past that
he would rather leave alone.
Despite their
differences, the two rivals find themselves being drawn to one
another, but having both loved and lost before, Delilah and Clint
are not sure they could risk that hurt again.
As The
River Nymph and its reluctant partners travel upriver, Delilah
and Clint must fight their attraction to each other as well as plans
of sabotage from a mutual enemy.
The
River Nymph is a fascinating story rich in detail and full
of intriguing characters. The vivid descriptions of life in the
towns and on a riverboat as well as those of the poker games made me
feel as if I were there. I could clearly picture all that was
occurring based on the author’s words. The main characters, Delilah
and Clint, as well as the various secondary characters, added to the
intriguing story. The verbal sparring between Delilah and Clint
demonstrated the passion and chemistry that they had as a couple and
I could hardly wait to see how their relationship would progress.
Overall, The River Nymph is an enjoyable story that
provided an interesting look at life and love aboard a riverboat.
