Kid Quinter can’t believe his brothers have hog-tied him and his stepmother has arranged for him to marry a scared and pretty little lady. It’s a way for the lady, Jessie Johnson, to pay off her worthless brother’s debt to Kid’s mother and normally Kid would have resisted. But truth was, Jessie needed a place to stay and could use looking after for a little while at least. The marriage would be in name only until the no-good brother could work off the financial obligation. Then they’d divorce and Kid would carry out his plan and get a bride befitting a prosperous rancher.
Jessie can hardly believe the new catastrophe her brother has brought on her. Only this one comes wrapped in the handsomest man she’s ever seen—and maybe the most honorable. She doesn’t deserve the big house and the kind words and the care of this man but she’s determined to prove her worth. And maybe, just maybe, he’d decide to keep her.
This is a sweet romance with a charming heroine who will soften even the most hardened heart—and Kid’s is far from hardened. A decent man surrounded by meddling family, Kid is determined to do the right thing—only knowing what that is becomes more difficult each day he’s around Jessie. Ms. Robinson brings the West to life including the hard times and difficult situations of life on the lawless frontier. An uplifting novel, full of hope with interesting characters, including Kid’s brothers. I can’t wait to read the sequels.
