The epitome of grace,
kindness, and humility, Johanna Wade was ecstatic to join her
father, Reverend Wade, on a missionary trip to Oregon. Little did
she know her steadfast faith would be tested along the way, starting
with the handsome trail guide, Ryan Majors.
Ryan younger brother, Chet,
was murdered, leaving behind a widow and four children, which Ryan
now looked after. In need of extra income, he accepted a job as
trail guide for Reverend Wade. But Ryan's thirst for revenge is
strong. While he guides the Reverend and his group through the
treacherous wagon trail, he thinks of finding and killing his
brother's murderer, Grizzly Dugan. But he finds an inconvenient
distraction in the beautiful Johanna, whom he can't seem to get out
of his mind or his blood.
Johanna never thought she
could love again after her fiancé, Robert, passed away from Scarlet
Fever. His memory haunted her every time she thought about the
brooding, mysterious trail guide who seemed to be occupying her
thoughts more and more with each passing day. Ryan intrigued her,
frightened her, made her feel things she'd never known before.
Traveling along the Oregon
Trail proved much more difficult than anyone could have imagined.
None of the travelers expected to witness so much illness and death
along the way. But little do they know that the worst has yet to
come. Will faith and love triumph over evil?
Ms. Greenfeder has written a
wonderful, dynamic story, filled with rich, vibrant characters that
kept me glued to the pages. The descriptive setting and true-to-life
dialogue put me right there on the wagon trail with Johanna and
Ryan. This is a book I'm sure to read again and again. I look
forward to reading more from this talented storyteller. |
